You are handing a stranger your licence to get a job. Here is exactly what we ask for, why we need it, who sees it, and how to get it back out of our hands.
What we ask for
- A photo of your CDL — optional. It saves you typing your name, licence number, class and expiry. If you would rather not send a photo, there is a "type it in myself" option on that step and the application works exactly the same.
- Name, date of birth, and where you have lived for the last three years.
- Phone, and email if you want to give one.
- Your last three years of work and your accident and violation history — this is the part the federal rules require of us, not a preference of ours.
- Your Social Security number — optional on the form. We do not need it to call you or to talk about the job. We need it before you can be paid, and you can give it over the phone or in person instead.
- A photo of your medical card, if you have it handy. Also optional.
Why
Two reasons, and no others. First, so a person here can call you back about driving for us. Second, because the FMCSA does not let a carrier put a driver in a truck without collecting and checking these things first — the employment history, the driving record, the drug and alcohol testing history. That is what a driver qualification file is.
Who sees it
- Us. The people at Tipton who hire and dispatch drivers.
- The checks you consent to on the form, and only after you consent: your motor vehicle record, the FMCSA Pre-Employment Screening Program, the DOT Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse, and your previous employers for the DOT safety history they are required to give us.
- Nobody else. We do not sell it, rent it, trade it, or hand it to other carriers, recruiters or lead brokers. There is no list you have been added to.
Where it lives
In our own systems, behind a login. Photos and documents go into private storage and are opened only through links that expire — there is no public address for your licence photo, and it is not sitting in a shared inbox or a spreadsheet.
We keep applications for as long as we are hiring on them, and driver files for as long as the DOT requires us to keep them. If you are not hired, you can ask us to delete yours.
This website
When you arrive from an ad, a video or a driver's referral link, the site records which one it was and stores it with your application — so we know which ad worked, not who you are. We may also use Google Analytics and a Meta (Facebook) advertising pixel to measure the same thing. We do not use any of it to build a profile of you or to sell anything to you.
Want your information removed? Call 417-368-3058 or email dispatch@tiptonhayfarms.net and say so. We will delete what we are not legally required to keep, and tell you plainly what we cannot.
